Aurora Arts Theatre’s Young Actors Summer Camp is waiting for you to come experience the magic of theatre! AAT’s two-week long-day camps will guide campers ages 8 - 15 through elements of theatre that will further their love of theatre while enhancing communication, commitment, and problem-solving skills.

Take The Stage
June 3-14 | July 22 - August 2

Via teacher-guided games & activities, campers will learn the importance of improvisation, character development, audition techniques, script analysis, tips and tricks for memorizing lines, and stage direction. Campers will present a production at the end of camp.

Broadway Bound!
June 17-28

Broadway Bound offers campers the opportunity to explore hidden musical talents, improve communication skills and ignite their imagination musically. Via teacher-guided theatre games and activities, campers will learn stage direction, choreography, singing & vocal technique, and theatre history. Campers will present a production at the end of camp.


Meet the Instructor

Laurie Guajardo-Hoefelmeyer is a native South-Texan, born and raised. She has an accumulative 26 years of theatre experience which includes performing, directing, choreographing & technical design. Laurie majored in theater performance at Baylor University and also studied Theatre/Film/Radio/Television at Texas A&M University Kingsville where she was given special recognition by the Kennedy Center for dramatic performance. Laurie has been a theatre teacher for 9 years most notably at Stage Canvas Dance co. and BCISD. During her teaching career she has coached UIL One Act as well as individual speech events. Her recent theatrical journey includes acting and directing at Aurora Arts Theatre and the Harbor Playhouse. Laurie had the pleasure of working with Aurora Arts Theatre camp last summer and is thrilled to be returning once again to share her passion for theatre with the Coastal Bend community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • $315 per session if registered before April 1, 2024; $365 thereafter.

  • The camps will run from Monday to Friday for two consecutive weeks, with each day starting at 9 am and ending at 3:30 pm.

  • Campers of all experience levels are welcome!

  • Yes! Both single and/or multiple camp sessions can be explored throughout the summer.

  • We will have a final performance on the last day of camp at 1 pm.

  • We do not provide lunch to campers; only light snacks. Students must provide their own lunch. Please be aware that in order to serve as many students as possible, we have implemented a strict NO NUT rule. So please send food without nuts.

  • Campers should arrive to camp wearing clothes they can move in. Please no flip flops, sandals, or Crocs and no skirts or dresses.

  • Not at this time. Camp begins at 9 am and ends at 3:30 pm. You can drop off your child as soon as 8:30 am and pick up no later than 3:45 pm.
