⚡ It’s alive! The electrifying adaptation of Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny film will leave you in stitches. Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania — and hilarity continuously abounds. From the creators of The Producers comes this monster new musical comedy.
What to Expect
Musical auditions at Aurora usually have three parts, all in one evening. Here’s what the night looks like:
You’ll learn choreography taught by our choreographer, Jessica McLerran. Wear something comfortable that you can move in — no dance experience required.
Please prepare 32 bars (about one minute) of a musical theatre song in a similar style to Young Frankenstein. Bring your own instrumental track — please do not prepare a song from the show itself; those will be saved for callbacks.
First time auditioning? No worries! Our Music Director will have a vocal cut ready to teach you at the audition. All experience levels are welcome.
You’ll read alongside fellow auditionees. All audition pieces are selected by the director and provided the evening of — you do not need to prepare anything in advance.

Brilliant brain surgeon, professor and grandson of mad scientist Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein.
The misunderstood creation of Dr. Frankenstein.
Frederick’s faithful, bright-eyed, eager servant and friend with a hunchback.
Frederick’s young assistant. Attractive and a resident of Transylvania.
Frederick’s boisterous fiancé.
Stern housekeeper of the Frankenstein estate and former lover of Victor Frankenstein.
Head of police in Transylvania. Driven by justice, with a wooden arm and leg.
A lonely, blind town hermit, hoping for a friend.
The infamous Dr. Frankenstein and Frederick’s grandfather.
The village idiot.
Gravediggers, Villagers, Medical Students, Passengers, Mad Scientists — Any gender, ages 16 and up. Come join the madness! 🧟

Most Recently Directed Come From Away at AuroraLaurie G. Hoefelmeyer brings her signature energy and vision to Young Frankenstein after directing the Coastal Bend premiere of Come From Away as Aurora’s 2026 season opener. She is joined by Music Director Nick Mendleski and Choreographer Jessica McLerran for what promises to be a monstrously fun production.
