Aurora Arts Theatre’s Young Actors Summer Camp gives students the opportunity to explore the stage through hands-on theatre training in a supportive and creative environment. Campers build confidence, collaboration, and performance skills while working with experienced theatre professionals.

Five sessions this summer — Musical Theatre, Drama, and Improv — running June 1 through August 7, for young performers ages 9–16.

Meet the Camp Director

Laurie Guajardo‑Hoefelmeyer

Laurie Guajardo-Hoefelmeyer brings more than 27 years of theatre experience to Aurora’s summer program. A Baylor University Theatre Performance graduate with Kennedy Center recognition, Laurie has dedicated her career to helping young performers grow in confidence, creativity, and collaboration.

Through Aurora’s Young Actors Summer Camp, she works closely with students to develop stage presence, teamwork, and storytelling skills that last well beyond the stage. Most recently, Laurie directed the Coastal Bend premiere of Come From Away as Aurora’s 2026 season opener.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the camp sessions?

Sessions 1, 2, 3, and 5 run for two weeks, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Session 4 is a one-week Improv camp, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

What is the tuition cost?

Two-week sessions are $350. One-week Improv sessions are $210. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required per session at the time of registration.

What ages can attend?

Young Actors Summer Camp is open to students ages 9–16.

Does my child need acting experience?

No experience is required. All experience levels are welcome.

Is there a final performance?

Yes! Campers present a final performance on the last day of each session at 1:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Do you provide lunch?

Campers should bring lunch each day. We provide light snacks. Please note we maintain a strict NO NUT policy.

What should my child wear?

Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement. No flip-flops, sandals, Crocs, skirts, or dresses please.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations are accepted up to two weeks before the session begins. The $100 deposit per session is non-refundable.
